Just heard from a friend that her internet access in the office is cut today. The whole set of computers in the lab just turn into intranet. She said she can't even check his university email acc. How pity…. Actually, I don't quite agree with this kind of arrangement. As internet is becoming part of our life and you cannot just cut it without thinking the consequence. Now, she has to go to library to check email and search papers, which is very inconvenient.
One of my friend's company also shuts down all internet access for its employees. However, they're Java developers, the internet would have a lot of resource for them to use. Like java.sun.com has some API documents, developer forums to ask questions, etc. It is just a foolish thought to think cut internet access so that employees won't waste thier working time. Because they have some more extra times wasted.
Have a look on google‘s policy: employees are allowed to have 20% of their working time to do their own stuff, which is for encouraging creativity. So they have an affiliate project called Orkut, a project by a google staff using these 20% time to develop. I wish every employers can have vision like google……
P.S. Oh…it's becoming an English blog again….
